Make Yourself At Home came about during the beginning months of the pandemic specifically during an emotional phone call with her best friend. Little did Vi know, she would reluctantly choose to take a gap year in order to return to in-person classes for her senior year and craft a high-quality collection utilizing the best resources and connections in New York City rather than stay behind in her suburban neighborhood in Fairfax, Virginia. As always, a K-pop song is used for Vi's initial inspiration when designing her collection, and this year, Seventeen's "Home" conveyed the perfect message to their audience by saying that they are Seventeen's home. This collection is a love letter written to both places she calls her home and showcases two very different aesthetics and combines them into one. Seen as the Pratt Class of 2022's most inclusive collection, Vi dedicated this collection to the different kinds of people she befriended in both Virginia and New York as her way to include all of their versions of what home means to them seen through clothing.

This collection was inspired by the sharp architecture found across the NYC skyline and the geometric pattern of Manhattan itself. Taking further inspiration from the iconic house set designs from film and television and combining it with nostalgia of Vi's Americana suburban neighborhood, this collection captures two contrasting energies into an autobiography focusing on who Vi is as a designer. Vi heavily emphasized a sustainable approach when second-sourcing her fabrics to allow each garment to be special on its' own. She also crafted specialty digital prints featuring photography Vi took during her gap year as a coping mechanism during the pandemic. This included an archived screenshot of NYC during 2020 to showcase the specific timeline this collection came to life. Each piece thoughtfully includes elements of her Vietnamese heritage as well as her American upbringing. Dramatic silhouettes to mimic the look of houses and city buildings, geometric linework as seen in consistent pleating details and inclusive sizing were some of the details Vi focused on to convey her story.
